Next-gen Nissan Frontier ready to arrive in 2020?

The restyled pickup is said to look 'futuristic.'

Corroborating recent rumors, the latest report surrounding the next-gen Nissan Frontier suggests the revamped pickup is scheduled to arrive on the market next year for the 2021 model year.

The new Frontier is said to be built upon an updated version of the aging F-Alpha truck platform that underpins the current model, rather than switching to the global Navara platform that has more expensive coil-spring rear suspension, according to Automotive News.

Arriving 16 years after the Frontier's last major overhaul, the new pickup is said to look "futuristic" and modern yet still appealing to typical truck buyers, with a new 300-horsepower V6 and seven-speed automatic transmission.

Nissan faces increasing competition in the midsize pickup segment as American automakers jump back in. Nissan is expected to continue positioning the Frontier as a more affordable alternative to rivals.
