Nissan previews mysterious Detroit-bound concept [video]

The concept embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Nissan had a relatively big presence at CES 2019. It unveiled the long-promised long-range Leaf, and it showcased a connected-car technology named Invisible-to-Visible. The company hasn't run out of steam; it's preparing to introduce an enigmatic concept car at the 2019 Detroit auto show.

Nissan published a short teaser video on its official YouTube channel to preview the yet-unnamed concept. The flick shows what looks like an industrial milling machine carving out parts of a car, but it intentionally reveals absolutely nothing about the concept. All we see is a vague outline that could correspond to a sedan or a crossover.

Odds are we won't get a preview of the next-generation Z coupe, though. The video's description explains the concept "embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility," which strongly hints -- but doesn't guarantee -- the design study will be electric, autonomous, or both. It boldly claims "the future is here!"

We won't have to wait long to find out what Nissan has in store for the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. The show will open its doors to the press on Monday, January 14, and Leftlane will be on-location to bring you details of whatever the firm unveils. Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, will also be present at the event with a concept named QX Inspiration that previews an electric crossover.
