Cop driving Nissan GT-R faces DWI, homicide charges in deadly crash
A passenger in a Mazda6 was killed when the car was struck by an off-duty NYPD officer.
An NYPD officer has been arrested following a deadly off-duty crash, allegedly driving drunk behind the wheel of a Nissan GT-R and killing a passenger in a Mazda6.
The Mazda driver is believed to have blown through a stop sign and was t-boned by the GT-R at the intersection of East 55th Street and Foster Avenue in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood, according to the New York Post.
The Mazda driver is said to have fled the scene before first responders arrived and found one of the passengers dead and the other in serious condition.
Officer Rohan Shaw, said to be a member of NYPD's counter-terrorism division, has reportedly been hit with charges of vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, speeding and driving while ability impaired. He has been suspended without pay as the investigation continues.
