Porsche details Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid with 670 horsepower

Available in standard and coupe variants, the hybrids are the most powerful Cayenne models ever.

Porsche has revealed three new Cayenne powertrains for the 2020 model year, including a new range-topping Turbo S E-Hybrid for both the standard model and Coupe variant.

The Turbo S E-Hybrid variants are powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 541 horsepower combined with a 134-horsepower electric motor, bringing a combined system output of 670 ponies and 663 pound-feet of torque.

The most powerful Cayennes ever can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and top out at an electronically limited 183 mph.

The plug-in hybrids integrate a 14.1-kWh battery that provides 30 percent more energy capacity than the modules used in the previous-generation technology.

The company has also announced the Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe, which pairs a 3.0-liter single-turbo V6 and the same electric motor as the standard Cayenne E-Hybrid for a combined output of 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

Starting prices have been set at $163,250 (including freight) for the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, $165,750 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe, and $87,750 for the basic E-Hybrid Coupe. The trio will arrive in US showrooms by the first quarter of 2020.
