Porsche confirms 20,000 deposits for Taycan

The company has increased production capacity to accommodate strong demand.

Confirming recent reports, Porsche has announced plans to increase Taycan production volume to serve stronger-than-expected demand.

The company has received more than 20,000 reservation deposits for its first all-electric model. In Europe, potential buyers have to put down 2,500 euros to join the list.

"The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are - and we've therefore increased our production capacities," says Porsche sales head Detlev von Platen.

The Taycan boasts a zero-to-62 mph sprint in 3.5 seconds, along with a range of more than 311 miles according to the generous NEDC test cycle. Drivers will be able to add approximately 62 miles of charge in just four minutes.

The first units are scheduled to be delivered before the end of the year.
