Porsche hit with $599M fine in Germany for emissions scandal

German authorities have fined Volkswagen Group brands more than $2.6 billion USD.

Porsche has been hit with 535 million euro (~$599 million USD) fine in Germany over the emissions scandal that emerged several years ago.

Prosecutors penalized the automaker for supervisory failures that allowed the company's development team to create emissions technology that violated regulations in Europe and abroad.

German authorities have now handed down fines totaling more than $2.6 billion USD against the Volkswagen Group brands involved in the cheating.

Prosecutors have left open the possibility of further enforcement action against individual workers or managers.
