Porsche Macan Turbo returns with even more power
The range topper can now hit 62 mph in 4.3 seconds.
Porsche has revived the Macan Turbo for the 2020 model year after briefly dropping the package from the 2019 lineup.
The new Turbo has been repowered with a smaller 2.9-liter biturbo V6 delivering 434 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque -- an increase of 34 horses over the previous model's larger 3.6-liter unit.
The new engine motivates the Macan to 62 mph from a standstill in 4.3 seconds with the Sport Chrono package, shaving three-tenths off the previous Turbo's time. Top speed has increased marginally to nearly 168 mph.
The new model is not quite as powerful as the retired Macan Turbo Performance Package, which delivered 440 horsepower and hit 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
The 2020 Macan Turbo will start at $84,950, fetching an $8,000 premium over the 2018 model year. The price tag is a few thousand dollars shy of the previous Performance Package. The company is presumably planning to launch an even more powerful successor to push the best-selling nameplate into six-figure territory.
