Porsche working on all-electric Macan?

Sales are expected to begin as early as 2022.

Porsche has reportedly decided to build an all-electric version of the Macan.

The performance marque is already readying the Taycan sedan and its slightly higher-riding sibling, the Taycan Cross Turismo. A Macan EV would likely have even higher sales ambitions, as the current Macan outsells the Panamera sedan by a three-to-one margin.

The company gave the electric Macan project a green light at the end of 2018 and hopes to bring the crossover to market by 2022, according to German outlet Spiegel.

The report meshes with Porsche's plan to make half of its lineup available with electric powertrains by 2025.
