Spied: 2020 Ram Heavy Duty lineup
The Ram HD will be unveiled next month.
Ram's lineup of 2020 Heavy Duty pickup truck models have been spotted camouflage-free driving test loops near Chrysler's Auburn Hills headquarters. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty models are expected to make their world debut next month at the Detroit auto show.
Our spies managed to catch several Ram Heavy Duty models in the act, including the new Limited, Limited MegaCab, Laramie Longhorn and Big Horn. The 2020 model year will be the line's first major overhaul since 2010.
As expected, the Heavy Duty versions of the Ram will adopt the same general exterior styling as the 1500 model that went on sale earlier this year. However, the HD models look a little chunkier thanks to a new headlight surround. The HD models also adopt the 1500's new grille designs, which no longer include a cross-hair motif.
Inside you can expect more parts sharing with the 1500. Upgrades for the 2020 model year should include better finishes and an available 12-inch touchscreen center display.
Like today, Ram's upcoming HD models are expected to be offered with three basic engines -- a 5.7L gas V8, a 6.4L gas V8 and a 6.7L inline-six diesel. The latter currently tops out at 385 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of torque, but those figures will likely grow for 2020. The gas engines will mate exclusively to an automatic transmission, but diesel buyers will still have the option of a six-speed manual.
2020 Ram HD production is expected to kick off in Warren, Michigan, soon after the truck's NAIAS debut.
