Rolls-Royce to introduce new Phantom next month
A new Rolls-Royce flagship will debut on July 27.
Rolls-Royce has announced that it will unveil the next-generation of its Phantom flagship sedan at a special event to be held in London on July 27.
Rolls announced on Thursday that it will debut its latest Phantom model at the company's "The Great Eight Phantoms” exhibit, which will showcase the most important Phantom models from the last 92 years. That event will kick off on July 27 in London.
Rolls-Royce is keeping the details of its eighth-generation Phantom under wraps until the start of the event, but the big sedan is expected to switch over to an all-new modular platform constructed mostly from aluminum. That means while the next Phantom won't be any smaller than the model it replaces, it should be significantly lighter.
The Phantom's overall silhouette isn't expected to change much, but look for new detail to give the car a more modern look. Power will be supplied by a V12 engine. It's possible that Rolls-Royce could add a hybrid drivetrain later in the car's lifecycle.
Rolls-Royce recently ended production of the Phantom VII after 13 years of production.
