Subaru teases 2020 Outback for New York debut

The revamped Outback will likely get new powertrains and tech upgrades.

Subaru has released the first teaser image for the 2020 Outback, scheduled to be revealed in New York.

The 2020 redesign will be underpinned by the Subaru Global Platform architecture that is also used for the 2020 Legacy, presumably improving chassis rigidity and reducing road noise.

Buyers will likely have a few powertrains to choose from, starting with a 2.5-liter boxer four with 182 horsepower. If the Outback follows the Legacy's lead, it will also benefit from the Ascent's 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, the new Outback should be thoroughly reworked with a large Full HD infotainment system.

More details could be posted ahead of the New York International Auto Show debut.
