Tesla CFO retires after other finance execs depart

The company has named 34-year-old Zach Kirkhorn to become the new CFO.

Tesla's veteran chief financial officer, Deepak Ahuja, is preparing to retire from the company for a second time.

Ahuja initially retired in 2015 but agreed to take the reins in 2017 after his successor, Jason Wheeler, departed after little more than a year. Ahuja will now return to retirement in a few months and transition to a role as a senior advisor.

"Super appreciate Deepak's 11-year history building Tesla & wish him greatest of happiness in retirement!" Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.

Ahuja will be succeeded by Zach Kirkhorn, also a Tesla veteran despite his young age of just 34 years old.

"Zach has been outstanding over his 9-year history with Tesla & will build upon Deepak's legacy," Musk added.
