Tesla Model S 'fastest 4-door ever' at Laguna Seca
The company will be tuning the sedan at the Nurburgring this week.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the Model S set a new lap record at Laguna Seca.
"Model S just set record for fastest 4 door ever at Laguna Seca, video tmrw," Musk posted on Twitter.
The Model 3 had already established a top EV lap at the track in July. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 held the overall four-door record until now, however, with a lap time of one minute and 37.5 seconds.
The California-based automaker has promised to bring the Model S to Germany's Nurburgring, where the Porsche Taycan recently set a record for four-door electric vehicles.
Musk has clarified that "we probably won't try for best lap time this week" at the 'Ring, instead focusing on tuning the Model S "thoroughly for safety" and particularly on the Flugplatz section. The company may not be able to make a formal record attempt at the Green Hell until it can reserve exclusive track time.
