Elon Musk confirms Tesla pickup to debut November 21

The date is a Blade Runner reference and coincides with the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Elon Musk has confirmed plans to unveil Tesla's all-electric pickup on November 21.

The date coincides with the Los Angeles Auto Show, though Tesla will hold its event at a nearby SpaceX rocket factory.
Musk also posted a video showing the opening credits for the movie Blade Runner, which starts in a dystopian Los Angeles in November 2019. The executive has frequently indicated the 'cybertruck' styling meshes with the futuristic vehicles featured in the film.
The pickup has also taken inspiration from armored personnel carriers (APCs), though Musk has shot down speculation that the truck is being pitched for military use.
"This is based on an incorrect Electrek article. The Air Force asked me to speak at a startup conference called 'Pitch Day' & I happened to mention Cybertruck," he wrote on Twitter. "They don't buy APCs. It's the Air Force."
The truck will presumably have impressive performance specs and features for commercial use, such as a 240-volt hookup for welders and other industrial equipment.
