2016 Toyota Prius caught naked [Spied]by Drew Johnson
Toyota\'s next-generation Prius have been fully exposed.
Toyota's fourth-generation Prius hybrid has been spotted on the set of a photo shoot without any camouflage. The all-new Prius will be officially unveiled at a press event next month in Las Vegas.
The new spy shots confirm what we already assumed — the 2016 Prius will adopt the same basic design language used on the Mirai fuel-cell vehicle. That means a radically-designed front end with sharp edges that cut down on wind resistance. That dedication to aero can also be seen at the back of the new Prius with deep groove cut into the car's rear panels. The Mirai sports a similar treatment.
The 2016 Prius will also be more sedan-like in its appearance, although its signature hatchback will remain. Rear seat headroom could, however, suffer as a result of the new roofline.
The 2016 Prius will ride on Toyota's all-new modular platform. A four-cylinder gas engine will remain under hood, as will a set of nickel-metal batteries for the electric motor. Although Toyota didn't go for the latest lithium-ion battery tech, the new Prius will reportedly increased its overall economy by about 10 percent.
Following its debut next month, the 2016 Toyota Prius will likely greet the public for the first time at the Los Angeles auto show. Sales should commence by early 2016.
