Volkswagen to preview next CC in Geneva?
The next CC will ride on Volkswagen\'s modular MQB platform.
Volkswagen will reportedly travel to next March's Geneva Motor Show to introduce a new concept car that will preview the next CC.
Billed as thinly-veiled concept, the yet-unnamed show car will ride on the same modular MQB platform as the Euro-spec eighth-gen Passat (pictured) but the two will not share any styling cues. Instead, the CC will get a look of its own that will stand out thanks to a more muscular front fascia and a roofline that will gently slope down into the trunk lid.
The CC will stretch about an inch and a half longer than the Passat in a bid to free up more space for passengers riding in the back. It will likely be fitted with the next generation of Volkswagen's infotainment system which will be centered around a large screen capable of responding to basic hand gestures.
In Europe, the next CC will share the bulk of its gasoline- and diesel-burning engines with the Passat, and a GTE-badged plug-in hybrid model will likely round out the lineup. Front-wheel drive will come standard and Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system will be available at an extra cost on select models.
If the rumor turns out to be true, more details about Volkswagen's Geneva-bound concept will emerge over the coming weeks. The next-gen CC is expected to bow at a major auto show early next year and land on our shores in time for the 2017 model year.
