Volkswagen teases Golf GTI TCR
The range-topping GTI boasts 286 horsepower and an unrestricted top speed of 164 mph.
Volkswagen has released a few teaser sketches for the Golf GTI TCR, the fastest GTI ever.
Taking inspiration from the TCR race-series vehicle, the road-going production car boasts 286 horsepower from 5,000-6,800 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque from 1,600-4,300 rpm. Power is delivered via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a standard limited-slip differential.
Buyers can opt to have the 155-mph limited removed, bumping the TCR's top speed to 164 mph.
The near-production-ready Golf GTI TCR will be unveiled at the Wörthersee enthusiast festival next week. The production car will follow several months later, toward the end of the year.
