Volkswagen ID.3 reaches 15,000 pre-orders
The number pales in comparison to the more than 300,000 pre-orders received for the Tesla Model 3 in the first week.
Volkswagen has announced that its ID.3 has already received 15,000 pre-orders in less than a week.
Customers have now booked more than half of the 30,000 available reservation slots for the all-electric hatchback. The company has reported particularly strong demand in its home market along with Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, and Sweden.
"The positive response shows that many customers are ready for e- mobility," said VW sales head Jürgen Stackmann. "People who want to be among the first to drive an ID.3 should not wait too long with their registrations. The number of pre-bookers is rising steadily."
The ID.3 may have exceeded VW's internal projections but fell far short of Tesla's first-week pre-order tally of more than 300,000 deposits for the Model 3.
The first ID.3 reservation holders are expected to receive delivery by mid-2020.
