Volkswagen introduces updated Polo Sedan in Russia

The Polo Sedan is roughly the same size as Ford Fiesta Sedan.

Volkswagen's Russian division has introduced the updated version of the Polo Sedan, a small entry-level four-door that's roughly the same size as the Ford Fiesta Sedan sold on our shores.

Like the Polo hatchback that was launched last year, the Sedan gets a discreetly revised front end with a new radiator grille, a redesigned lower bumper and sharper headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. New alloy wheel and hubcap designs and additional paint colors round out the updates.

Inside, the Sedan gets the same steering wheel as the Polo hatchback and a more upscale-looking center console that can be spruced up with faux-aluminum trim at an extra cost. The list of standard equipment now includes front and rear power windows, A/C, power locks and ABS.

Power for the Polo Sedan comes from a 1.6-liter gasoline-burning four-cylinder engine available with either 84 or 103 horsepower. The four-banger spins the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, but select trim levels can be ordered with a six-speed automatic unit at an extra cost.

Built in Kaluga, Russia, the 2015 Volkswagen Polo Sedan is scheduled to go on sale halfway through next month. Volkswagen is not currently planning on selling the tiny four-door in the United States, but it might offer it in a host of other countries around the globe before the end of the year.
