Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover to debut in February
The US-focused model may be scheduled for the Chicago Auto Show.
Volkswagen has quietly confirmed plans to reveal its ID-badged electric crossover in February next year.
The announcement was made by the company's sales and marketing chief, Juergen Stackmann, at a recent debut event for the ID.3 hatchback, which is not planned for a US market launch.
Rumored to be named the ID.4, the crossover will be based on the ID Crozz concept (pictured). The production edition is said to have a more traditional SUV form, dropping the concept's coupe-like silhouette in favor of more cabin and cargo space in the rear.
The crossover will be VW's first ID model to arrive in the US. The German automaker is said to be aiming for a late-2020 arrival, likely beating the rival Tesla Model Y to market.
