Volkwagen's US-bound electric crossover to be named ID.4?
The production model will be based on the ID Crozz concept.
Volkswagen's upcoming all-electric crossover will reportedly stick to the naming convention introduced with the ID.3 hatchback.
The company has reportedly decided to name the crossover the ID.4 in preparation for a market launch, according to Automotive News.
The ID.4 will be based on the ID Crozz concept, toned down with a more traditional form. The production model is said to have a more vertical liftgate, dropping the concept's streamlined coupe-like profile.Exterior styling elements will presumably have a familiar bond to the ID.3. The hatchback's floating infotainment system, head-up display and other interior features will likely be adapted for the larger crossover.
The production ID.4 is expected to arrive in US showrooms by late 2020. The German automaker will presumably attempt to beat Tesla's Model Y to market.
