VW ID 3 hatchback leaks ahead of official debut

The company is now taking reservations for its first MEB-based EV.

Volkswagen's ID hatch appears to have slipped ahead of schedule, appearing in a less obscuring camouflage wrap.

The company apparently released a video early, with screenshots captured by Poland's Elektrowoz before the original post was taken down.

Expected to be renamed the ID 3 (or ID.3, perhaps) at launch, the all-electric hatchback is approximately the size of a Golf. The leak suggests the production car will stay close to the concept's proportions and styling, with no faux grille that some brands are still nonsensically adding to electric vehicles.

The base model is likely to get a range of around 205 miles according to the generous WLTP test cycle, with a price tag equivalent to a Golf Diesel. The longest-range edition is claimed to have a maximum 341 miles on a single charge.
