VW teases 2020 Golf ahead of October debut
The eighth-generation Golf has entered final testing.
Volkswagen has released a teaser photo for the 2020 Golf, due to be fully revealed in October.
With 35 million Golfs manufactured from the Mk1 of the 1970s through Mk7 of today, the eighth-generation model enters a new era of "electrified drives, a digitalized and connected interior world, assisted driving and online-based functions and services."
The lightly camouflaged development prototype hints at an evolutionary change to the hatchback's exterior styling. VW design head Klaus Bischoff promises the redesign will be a "genuine eye-catcher," however.
The 2020 model year appears to get new headlights, presumably using LED technology, while the logo has been removed to make way for VW's imminent rebranding.
Additional details will likely continue to surface ahead of the Mk8's official debut.
