Polestar 1 EV enters final prototype stage ahead of production
The Chengdu, China, assembly plant is expected to be inaugurated later this year.
Volvo's Polestar division is making progress bringing its Polestar 1 performance plug-in hybrid to market.
The Polestar 1 has entered the "tooling try-out" stay at the company's Chengdu, China, assembly plant. The TT prototype series includes around 50 vehicles so far, enabling the automaker to validate production methods and tooling implementation.
The Polestar 1 is equipped with dual electric motors driving the rear wheels, with a gasoline engine mated to the front wheels. Together, the power sources provide 600 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.
Initial reservation holders have begun confirming their final final vehicle specifications as the Polestar 1 steps closer to production. The factory is expected to be fully operational later this year.
