Polestar previews Android-powered infotainment interface

The company expects the Polestar 2 to be the first car with native Android Auto integration.

Volvo's Polestar brand has released an interactive preview of its upcoming Android-based infotainment interface.

The Polestar 2 is on track to be the first car with a native Android Auto system, requiring no smartphone pairing or mirroring to access core features of Google's popular mobile operating system.

The preview has been presented via a web-based emulator (link) that can be accessed from a smartphone or tablet.

As expected, the interface centers around large icons for various apps including Google Maps, along with Polestar-specific elements that allow drivers to control car settings or monitor battery charge level.

Beyond Polestar and Volvo vehicles, the native Android Auto system will presumably make additional appearances in more production cars in the coming years.
