Audi confirms RS 6 Avant is heading to America

The wagon sprints from zero to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

Confirming years of speculation and rumors, Audi has announced plans to sell the RS 6 Avant in US showrooms.

The company has unveiled an all-new RS 6 Avant powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The mill delivers 600 PS (592 horsepower) and 590 pound-feet of torque in Europe, launching the wagon to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Official US-market power and performance specs will be announced closer to market introduction, however.

Celebrating 25 years of RS history, the RS 6 Avant will provide an opportunity for Audi to gauge Americans' interest in a niche segment that other automakers apparently view as too risky.

The RS 6 Avant will be the eighth model in Audi Sport's US lineup when it lands next year.
