Ford Fairlane set for 2008 launch

Ford's next-generation minivan, the Fairlane, will go into production in February 2008, according to a report in the Toronto Star today. The car -- a radical departure from traditional minivans -- is expected to be built at Ford's Oakville, Ontario plant. The Fairlane will join the 2007 Ford Edge and 2007 Lincoln MKX at the plant, replacing the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. A Ford spokesperson would not confirm the Fairlane report. A Canadian Auto Workers representative also said he had not heard anything official thus far.
