The truth about the Audi A1 "Mini-killer"

A few automotive weblogs have inaccurately reported that Audi plans to build a new new car called the A1, designed to compete with BMW's Mini. While it's theoretically possible Audi has such plans, the images used by these sites are very misleading. The image in question, shown right, is not a leaked Audi concept car. Rather, it's a wooden model made by designer Steven van der Veen for the Michelin Design Challenge this year. The car is not an official design concept, nor is it an indication of future Audi designs.
