Lutz backpedals on Saab comments

General Motors Corp. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz (shown right) has publicly retracted comments made yesterday regarding board member Jerry York's stance on Saab. In January, investor Jerry York said he thought GM should kill Hummer and Saab. In February, York was elected to GM's board of directors. On Monday, at the Geneva Motor Show, Bob Lutz said York had changed his mind on Saab, and now though GM should keep the brand. On Tuesday, Mr. Lutz retracted the statement on the NewsTalk 760-WJR radio station: "Well I just got a little e-mail from Jerry York saying that while he loves me very much, he wishes he hadn't said that." Lutz further said, "I think what Jerry would like me to say is that he has gone from negative on Saab to neutral."
