Will Pontiac's Camaro look like this?

German magazine Chrom und Flammen has created a computer rendering of the 2008/2009 Pontiac "Firebird" for the cover of its latest issue. We assume the image is purely speculative, but it does raise some interesting questions. Firstly, the report suggests Pontiac's Zeta-platform vehicle will be called the Firebird, which seems unlikely. GM Vice President Bob Lutz has said the rear-wheel-drive lineup will include the Chevrolet Camaro, Monte Carlo, Impala, Pontiac GTO, and a Buick sedan. Whether the car is called GTO or Firebird is not terribly important, however. What's more important is whether a mildly rebodied Camaro will be enough for Pontiac. Is it sufficient to put a new face on the Camaro and call it a GTO? The car pictured looks nice enough, but badge engineering is almost always frowned upon. Another interesting idea put forward by this image is a return to Pontiac's classic front fascia. Perhaps the best part of this rendering is the grille and headlight arrangement. It would be refreshing to see pontiac transition back to this design language, rather than its current BMW-like face.
