Report: Toyota sales to improve 30 percent this month

Toyot's sales tumbled double-digits during the first two months of 2010 as the Japanese automaker struggled with its largest ever recall, but a new incentives program is expected to rally Toyot's March sales in a big way.

In order to combat its tarnished image - as well as incentives from other automakers - Toyota launched a new incentives program on March 1. The program offered customers a number of buying perks, including 0 percent financing and free maintenance.

The program appears to be a success as Toyot's sales have shot up about 50 percent during the first few days on the sale. As with most deals, interest is expected to trail off as the program continues on, but most analysts are expecting Toyota to post a March sales gain of 30 percent.

Although the sale is having a positive impact on Toyot's short-term sales, Toyot's medium and long-term outlooks remain unclear. Toyota is still battling a number of safety concerns, highlighted by two recent incidents with the company's popular Prius model.
