Jeep previews rugged concept trio ahead of Easter Jeep Safari

Off road icon Jeep will make a big splash at this year's 44th Annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, by unveiling three off road-oriented concept vehicles. Two are based on the venerable Wrangler, while the third takes the decidedly on road-oriented Jeep Patriot in a rugged direction.

Scheduled to take place during the last week of March, the Easter Jeep Safari serves as an annual pilgrimage for Jeep owners eager to explore the off road ability of their vehicles. As such, Chrysler usually uses the event to promote its Jeep brand with a series of aftermarket-style, factory-conceived off roaders.

The three Jeep sketches the automaker released show off the Wrangler J7, Wrangler Trail Boss and Wrangler J7. The automaker also plans to show a rock-crawling version of its Ram Power Wagon.

We can't discern much from the cropped images, unfortunately, and Chrysler neglected to give us much information about the concept cars.

The Wrangler J7, based on the four-door Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, gets a solid front bumper with built-in D-style tow loops, modified fenders and rugged tires to go with what appears to be a modest suspension lift. Jeep says it was designed "to have the basic appeal of military-issued vehicles."

The Wrangler Trail Boss began life as a two-door Wrangler Rubicon and adds an unspecified suspension lift, larger off-road tires, a Mopar front bumper with integrated fog lamps and a Warn winch.

Finally, the Patriot Extreme starts with Sunburst Orange paint and adds a two-inch Rocky Road Outfitters suspension lift, "Moab" alloy wheels from the previous-generation TJ Wrangler Rubicon, BFGoodrich Mud/Terrain KM2 tires, custom rock rails integrated into the front and rear fascias, Mopar slush mats, a Kicker audio system and a roof-mounted snowboard carrier. That latter item probably won't prove helpful in Moab this year.
