Acura RL to remain brand's flagship car

Contrary to an earlier report today, Acura has confirmed a future for the RL in the luxury brand's lineup with this update.

Earlier today a report surfaced out of Japan that suggested Acura was considering eliminating its flagship model, the RL, due to its recent slow sales pattern.

The RL has stood as Acur's range-topper since 1996, and now, according to a statement released by Acura in response to rumors about the RL's demise, we know that the RL will remain the range-topping car for Honda's luxury marquee.

The Acura RL first began to show serious signs of struggling in 2007 when sales were down roughly 50 percent compared to the year prior. Since then, Acura updated the model in 2009, but has still failed to deliver sales at the levels expected from the brand's most expensive model.
