SSC Ultimate Aero to end production with a five-run XT model

SSC will make five final Ultimate Aero XTs with 1,300 horsepower and unique paint jobs.

The American supercar maker that is SSC revealed that it will stop producing its Ultimate Aero supercar that set a Guinness World Record for attaining a 267 mph top speed. To commemorate this, the company will produce just five final versions of the car, dubbed Ultimate Aero XT.

The ultra-exclusive car will get some significant upgrades over the standard car, including a larger, 6.9-liter V8, which will make 1,300 horsepower. This is the same engine that will be used in SSC's upcoming Tuatara, and other hardware borrowed from that car includes a seven-speed gearbox with shift paddles, cooling system, fuel system, and brakes. The engine will have a redline of 9,200rpm. The car is also said to have a dry weight of just 2,800lbs thanks to carbon fiber and aluminum.

To add to the exclusivity, SSC will let buyers of the XT choose their own paint color and design, which the company vows not to reproduce ever again on another car.

SSC isn't talking pricing, but with such a limited run, it can pretty much ask any amount.
