Train derailment destroys dozens of Jeep Gladiators, GM pickups

The train went off the rails in Nevada near the Utah border.

Dozens of pickup trucks have been destroyed in a train derailment earlier this week in Nevada.

Photos posted by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office show car carriers full of Jeep Gladiators and Chevrolet and GMC pickups. Some of the vehicles spilled out of the carriers or remain trapped in piles of twisted metal.

The derailment occurred near the town of Caliente, not far from the Utah border.

Fox13 reports that some train cars were carrying hazardous material, though none of those cars were damaged in the accident.

Union Pacific is currently investigating the cause of the derailment.
