FCA issues recall to fix one Ram 1500's instrument cluster

Somehow, defective software was installed in just a single truck.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has launched an interesting recall, identifying a single Ram 1500 pickup that left the factory with defective instrument cluster software.

The company launched a broader campaign in March to address faulty instrument cluster software on 2019-model-year Dodge Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300 cars.

A subsequent investigation determined that, somehow, a small number of 2019 Ram 1500 clusters were affected. Most were production evaluation vehicles, save for a "single suspect vehicle" that ended up in sold in the US.

"The instrument cluster of a single, specific 2019 MY Ram 1500 vehicle may, under certain circumstances, become non-operational, which may result in the lack of activation of warning chimes, messages, and gauges," the recall documents warn.
