Acura is adding a little bit of zest to the ILX lineup for the 2018 model year. The Japanese company has just announced the imminent launch of an appearance package named A-Spec Special Edition.
The A-Spec Special Edition is like an ILX in a track suit. The list of upgrades includes a specific body kit which adds side skirts and a spoiler on the trunk lid. The sedan rides on custom 18-inch alloy wheels, and it comes with Acura's JewelEye LED headlights. Inside, you'll find an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a multi-view rear-view camera, a one-touch moon roof, and leather upholstery on the steering wheel, among other standard features.
Like every ILX, the Special Edition receives a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine which relies on direct fuel-injection to provide 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. It shifts through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and it returns 29 mpg in a combined cycle.
The 2018 Acura ILX A-Spec Special Edition is on sale now nationwide. Pricing starts at $28,900 before a mandatory $950 destination charge is factored in, which places the model near the bottom of the ILX hierarchy. And don't let the "special edition" designation fool you; there's no indication production is limited.
