Bentley Bentayga to take on Pikes Peak
The company aims to set a new record for SUVs.
Bentley is bringing its Bentayga to Colorado in June for the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
"The 600 bhp, W12-powered Bentayga will tackle the famous 12.42-mile Colorado Springs hill climb with record-breaking ambitions, aiming to navigate the 156 corners of ascending asphalt quicker than any SUV before," the company says.
The luxury SUV will be making a record attempt five years after Land Rover's then-new Range Rover Sport set a 12:35.61 benchmark at an average speed of 59.17 mph. Land Rover now has several even more potent SVR variants in its stable, however the company has not yet announced plans to take on Bentley in a direct rivalry this year.
Bentley's motorsport department is currently preparing a Bentayga for the competition. The company will announce its driver and other details closer to the event.
