Spied: BMW 1 Series face lift caught in the wild
BMW is preparing updates to its subcompact sedan.
Spies caught what appears to be the 2020 BMW 1 Series testing on public roads Tuesday, giving us a glimpse of what the future holds for Bavaria's forbidden fruit.
We call it that because, for the time being anyway, the 1 Series is only sold in a few markets, and the United States is not one of them. Originally, it was expected that the new 1 Series would only see the light of day in China. Since, BMW has expanded availability to some other emerging markets.
The most likely explanation for an updated 2020 1 Series being spotted in the wild is that it's due for a minor face lift. It'a also possible that BMW is preparing to expand its availability, which could potentially necessitate updates to the very parts covered here.
It could be a while before we see this updated 1 Series in the flesh, as BMW has no reason to bring it Stateside for the upcoming U.S. auto show circuit. Our best bet will be an overseas introduction some time in 2019. Stay tuned.
