Next-generation BMW M5 leaked

Take a look at the next M5.

The front end styling of BMW's next-generation M5 super saloon has been revealed thanks to a leak from an unlikely source.

The leaked image of the M5, which was posted by Autocar, doesn't come from a brochure or dealer advertisement, but rather from the video game franchise Need For Speed. The yet-to-be-release M5 was unmasked on one of the game's promotional items.

Not surprisingly, the next M5 will follow the same general styling as BMW's latest 5 Series sedan. However, what is a little surprising is the M5's rather restrained look. Unlike some of BMW's latest M cars, the M5 features somewhat subtle styling with only a slightly more aggressive-looking front bumper.

But despite its tame looks, the M5 is expected to boast some wild performance figures. The M5 will get a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 with at least 600 horsepower on tap. The four-door will also get four-wheel drive thanks to the addition of BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system. Given that all-wheel traction, the new M5 should have no problem ripping from 0-60 in the three-second range.

M cars have typically trailed their normal counterparts by a year or more, but that won't be the case with the new M5. Expect to see it make its global debut later this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
