2020 Chevy Camaro gets SS concept styling, more affordable V8 package

The new LT1 V8 edition carries a $34,995 price tag.

General Motors has detailed several changes for the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro lineup, introducing new styling for the SS variant and offering a new V8 package.

The new Camaro SS front end is closely tied to the Shock concept that debuted at the SEMA Show last year, featuring a repositioned bowtie emblem and a body-color bar between the upper and lower grilles.

"Customers spoke, and we listened," says Chevy marketing director Steve Majoros. "The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Shock's stylized design helped prompt its transition from concept to production."

Buyers can now purchase a LT1 trim powered by the 455-horsepower LT1 V8. making it the most affordable V8-equipped Camaro with a starting price of $34,995 (including freight). The package carries over LT exterior styling with the SS's vented hood, with 20-inch SS-style wheels and all-season tires.

The 3.6-liter V6 edition has also been updated, adding a 10-speed transmission borrowed from the SS and ZL1.

The 2020 Camaro is scheduled to go on sale early this fall.
