2020 Corvette gets most powerful Bose sound system ever

The optional system integrates 14 speakers, including dual 10-inch subwoofers.

The 2020 Corvette Stingray will be available with Bose's most powerful car audio system ever.

The optional Bose Performance system features no less than 14 speakers, more than the audio company has ever put into a two-seater. The array includes 1.0-inch tweeters, 2.5- and 3.25-inch 'twiddlers', 4.0-inch midrange drivers, and a 10-inch subwoofer placed in each door.

Microphones built into the cabin allow the system to reduce the effects of external sound, including the Corvette's engine that sits behind the seats.

"From the beginning, we knew we had to have an audio system that carefully balanced the need to isolate the occupants from the engine compartment in the rear, while providing live performance-like audio clarity," said Corvette executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter. "The Bose system technology in the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray delivers that careful balance."

The collaboration between Bose and Chevrolet traces its roots to the fourth-generation 1984 Corvette that offered a much more modest sound system than the 14-speaker package of the eighth-generation model.
