The race-prepped Charger will be running in the Exhibition Class this year.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced plans to bring the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Concept and the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody to Pikes Peak.

The one-off Charger isn't exactly factory spec, with a "specially tuned version" of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI engine. The company has customized the engine calibration, added a race exhaust, and modified the suspension. The car is also running on Toyo Proxes RR DOT competition tires on 20-inch by 11-inch production wheels, with racing brake pads and high-temperature brake fluid.

"When you look at a Charger, you of course think 'muscle car,' but maybe not 'Pike's Peak contender," said FCA passenger cars head Tim Kuniskis. "So we did what we do; we threw big horsepower, big rubber and big brakes at it. It's just that easy to make a Dodge race ready. And the best part, most of what we did is available off the showroom floor in the new 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody."

Three-time "Race to the Clouds" champion Randy Pobst will be behind the wheel when the Charger makes its run in the Exhibition class, while Kevin Wesley will pilot the Challenger in the Time Attack 1 class.
