SCG 004S is the "affordable" road car from James Glikenhaus
It will sell for about $400,000 and comes with a 5.0-liter V8 twin-turbo.
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has released images of a new "volume" sports car called the SCG 004S. That, of course, is a relative term, as at the estimated $400,000 price tag we will at most see a few hundred examples built.
Still, it's cheaper than the SCG 003, which runs about $2 million each. Founded by financier, film director and Ferrari collector James Glickenhaus, SCG is considered a low-volume manufacturer by the federal government, which exempts its vehicles from expensive certification tests regarding emissions and and safety. However, these firms are limited to 325 units per year.
The SCG 004S is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 good for 650 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, put down through a 6-speed manual transmission or paddle shifting automatics. It weighs about 2,600 pounds and features a center driving position like the McLaren F1. Chief engineer Olivier Thomas also worked on McLaren's P1.
In the automotive realm, Glickenhaus skyrocketed to fame after commissioning the one-off Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina, based on the Enzo, back in 2006.
The SCG 004S is due for the 2019 model year. Ten percent deposits are being accepted now.
