Ford F-150 Raptor to get back V8?

The Blue Oval is presumably preparing an answer to the upcoming Hellcat-powered Ram TRX.

Ford is reportedly planning to return a V8 engine to the F-150 Raptor.

The current Raptor's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 boasts 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, providing more power than the outgoing V8 engines from the first-generation model.

As spy photos show Ram's Hellcat-powered Rebel TRX nearing production, Ford is now preparing to launch another V8 Raptor, according to Ford Authority.

Which V8 will end up in the Raptor is not yet clear, though the Mustang Shelby GT500's Supercharged 5.2-liter mill is a leading candidate. The 2020 GT500 is expected to boast more than 700 horsepower, on par with the rumored specs for the Ram TRX.

Ford Authority also speculates that the Raptor could get the company's 7.3-liter 'Godzilla' V8, which will make its debut in the 2020 Super Duty lineup.
