Infiniti QX60 earns Top Safety Pick

Improved headlight performance was key to receiving the award.

The 2019-2020 Infiniti QX60 is the latest vehicle to earn a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The SUV aced all of the IIHS crash tests, except for an 'acceptable' mark in the passenger-side small-overlap impact. It also received a 'superior' rating for front-crash prevention.

Infiniti introduced modified headlights partway through the 2019-model-year production run. Vehicles built after May have LED headlights that are deemed 'acceptable,' allowing the QX60 to qualify for the Top Safety Pick club.

Notably, this is the second headlight revision following a change in September 2018 that only managed to bump the rating from 'poor' to 'marginal.' Despite multiple design changes, the SUV still falls short of the top headlight performance rating necessary for a Top Safety Pick Plus award.
