Diesel option for 2019 Jeep Wrangler confirmed
A dealer code appears to show a 3.0-liter diesel V6.
Strong evidence pointing to a diesel option for the 2019 Jeep Wrangler has surfaced. The news comes from leaked dealer codes, as dealership ordering banks have opened for the new model year.
According to the JL Wrangler Forums, one of the new codes, 26, is for the option of the 3.0-liter diesel V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Jeep will offer the drivetrain on the 4-door Unlimited Sport, Sahara and Rubicon trims.
Another dealer code referenced in the same article, 22, appears as an option for 2-door Sport, Sahara and Rubicon models. The story speculates that it could be the same diesel V6 mated to a 6-speed manual, but unlike code 26 this is not confirmed.
Lastly, dealer code 25 appears to confirm a mild-hybrid 3.6-liter V6 motor that has been rumored to appear by the end of 2018.
Jeep owners have long clamored for a torquey diesel option, and now the dealer codes have confirmed its arrival. If these reports prove accurate, Wrangler lineup would double its drivetrain options. Currently, a 2.0-liter turbo four and non-hybrid 3.6-liter V6 are the only offerings.
