Lexus rolls out more standard safety tech for 2020 models

The Safety System+ suite includes automatic braking, lane departure alert, intelligent cruise control and automatic high beams.

Lexus has reaffirmed its commitment to voluntarily launching more advanced safety technology as standard equipment, rolling out its Safety System+ suite across all vehicles for the 2020 model year.

All vehicles in the company's 2020 lineup will get automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, slowing or stopping the vehicle if a collision is imminent.

Drivers will benefit from lane-departure alerts, including audible/visual warnings and steering wheel vibration if the vehicle strays from its lane at speeds above 32 mph.

The Safety System+ package also includes automatic high beams and intelligent radar-based cruise control."

We are working toward preventing crashes before they happen," said Lexus vice president David Christ. "That's why we have developed some of the most advanced safety features on the road today, and now those systems will be standard equipment on every model we sell."
