LA LIVE: 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT, GT R Pro

The Porsche 911 rival has received a few styling tweaks and technology upgrades.

Mercedes-AMG has revealed the refreshed GT and new GT R Pro at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The GT has been regularly updated since arriving on the market four years ago, gradually adding more variants and receiving a facelift just last year. Exterior changes are consequently minimal for the 2020 model year, with revised LED headlights and a few rear-end tweaks on certain trim levels.

The most noticeable changes can be found inside, where Mercedes has integrated a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch multimedia display. Drivers are also treated to a new steering wheel with more control buttons for various functions. Many of the interior changes have already made their debut in the four-door GT.

The newly appointed GT R Pro is aimed at track enthusiasts, taking inspiration from the AMG GT3 and GT4 race cars. The street-legal GT R Pro features a new coilover suspension system with adjustable dampers, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars and spherical bearings for the rear suspension's upper and lower wishbones.

The Pro also boasts standard carbon-ceramic brakes to reduce heat fade. Unique bodywork includes two carbon winglets at each front corner and front fender vents to reduce front axle lift. Other upgrades include a Gurney flap on the oversized carbon spoiler and a new carbon roof design. Other components, including the engine, carry over from the GT R with 577 horsepower.

The 2020 GT will land in showrooms next year. Pricing will presumably be announced closer to launch, with a significant premium for the GT R Pro.
