Mercedes-AMG Project One to be called...ONE

The production name for Mercedes' hypercar hasn't changed much.

Mercedes-AMG has been parading around its Project One concept for several months now, but the company has refused to give its hypercar a production name. Well, that changed on Friday.

Mercedes-AMG says the production name for the Project One will be, drumroll, please, ONE.

That's probably the least shocking name change in history, but Mercedes says it stuck with the ONE moniker because it represents not only the car's Formula One tech, but also its position at the top of the AMG range.

Mercedes declined to reveal any of the ONE's production specs, however. But we do know that the hypercar will use a version of the 1.6L turbocharged V6 used in Mercedes' F1 car. Paired with a hybrid system, the ONE should be good for at least 1,000 horsepower.

The Mercedes-AMG ONE will make its formal debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. We still don't know when the ONE will go on sale, or how much it will cost (spoiler alert: a lot), but Mercedes is prepping for the hypercar's market introduction with a new mobile showroom. The custom-built trailer will allow ONE customers to sit int he vehicle's cockpit and select individual equipment options. And, of course, the trailer also contains a lounge and coffee bar.
